In order to have a valid gorilla habituation experience which allows you to participate in this activity and in all four gorilla destinations where one can go for tracking mountain gorillas, it is important that you secure a permit. This activity is only done in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park in the south, Rushaga one of the four tracking sector in Bwindi Forest. Only four travelers are accepted to visit these giants during every trip which are still undergoing the process of habituation. There are only two gorilla families that are still in this process which is known as Bikingi with 14 individuals and the Bushaho gorilla family.
How to book gorilla habituation permits?
For booking a gorilla habituation permit, contact Journeys Uganda, after confirming the actual dates you want to participate in the gorilla habituation process. We shall check the availability of gorilla permits at Uganda Wildlife Authority and contact you once they have been confirmed. Journeys Uganda will then send you an invoice that instructs you to proceed and make the payments so that we can confirm you are ready make bookings for your gorilla permit. After confirming payment of the permits, journeys Uganda will keep the permit and present it to you on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. It is advised that you book your gorilla habituation experience permits at least 3 months before the traveling dates.
A single gorilla habituation permit is sold at $1500 per person in that very experience and it involves the park entry fee, four hours after meeting a gorilla family, park guide rangers which is same to the standard mountain gorilla trekking apart from spending four hours interaction.

When to do gorilla habituation experience in Uganda.
Every month of the year, you can do a gorilla habituation experience. However, the best time is during the dry months that is from June-August and December-February because in this period there is little or no which makes the hiking experience much better in comparison to the wet months of March to May and October-November when Uganda receives heavy rainfall and makes some of the trails muddy and harder to hike.
