A Bwindi gorilla permit is one of the first important things one should consider before coming for a gorilla trekking activity. Although the Uganda gorilla trekking permit has increased it is still much lower if compared to the Rwandan gorilla permit that sold at 1500 USD per person per trek. Also, 20 % collected on the money got from selling gorilla permits is always given back to the local members which are help them to improve their standard of living.

Only Bwindi Forest is home to 17 gorilla families while 1 gorilla family is found in the Mgahinga gorilla national park. Each gorilla family is tracked by 8 people per day, this means that Bwindi gorilla permits are limited every day so it is always important to book a gorilla permit in advance like 3 months back to avoid inconveniences. The names of gorilla families in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park are Mubare, Rushegura, Busingye, Oruzogo, Mishaya , Nkuringo , Bushaho, Kahungye , Busingye , Bweza , Kyaguliro , Bitukura , Kutu , katwe, Habinyanja, and Nshongi. Including the two gorilla families which are still in the process of habituation and these are Bukingi gorilla family and Bushaho gorilla family. How much for Bwindi gorilla permit?

Bwindi gorilla permit has increased from 600USD to 700USD for foreign nonresidents per person per trek, 600USD for foreign residents for each person, and 250,000 Ugandan shillings for Eastern citizens per person in the very trek. Gorilla permits in Bwindi can be booked through two ways which include, you can book directly from the Uganda Wildlife Authority main offices which are found in the capital city Kampala or through Wild Epic Safaris.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest is carried out into four trailheads that are Nkuringo and Rushaga in the south, Buhoma in the north, and Ruhija in the east. The Park is protecting almost half of the mountain gorillas on earth with 18 habituated gorilla families that can be visited per day. only 8 tourists or people are allowed to visit a gorilla family each day, this means that there are 162 permits at the main offices of Uganda Wildlife Authority every day. Instructions for gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking has a few guidelines one should follow while trekking and these include always listen and follow the instruction of the rangers so as stay in a good condition with the gorillas even if they are familiar to you but are still wild animals so at any time can change. You are also advised to keep your voice very low, never feed gorillas, always keep a distance of 7 meters away from the gorillas, stay in a group, switch off flashlights when capturing the gorillas, never touch on younger gorillas, do not eat in front of gorillas. Another important guideline is to avoid looking directly into the eyes of gorillas. Currently, it is difficult to mention the best time to visit these gorilla families of Bwindi Forest due to unpredictable weather though the most recommended time to visit mountain gorillas is during the driest months which are divided into two seasons is the one start from June-October and then again December-February which are easier to trek the gorillas is less muddy and slippery. But if you want to come in this season, you are advised to book your gorilla permit in advance to avoid disturbance because at such time is when the park receives more visitors. Please note, Bwindi Forest is open for trekking mountain gorillas all year round so at any time you feel like trek whether in wet or dry season come and make your dream true. Budget travelers the wet season is also good for you because during this season is when there are discounts on hotel rooms and no high demand for gorilla permits however, at such time expect the rain every day.
