Best time to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is a public place open to visitors throughout the year however certain seasons favor certain activities for example for the best experience of watching wildlife is the dry season which is January to February and June to July. The dry season has short grasslands which gives a clear view of the wildlife like the climbing lions.
However much wildlife viewing is perfect in the dry season/ summer, to enjoy the breathtaking views of the vegetation, grasslands, thick riverine forests, generally the serene green environment is the wet season. The wet seasons/months in Uganda are March, August, May, December and April. Unfortunately the heavy rains may inconvenience some activities.
Despite the rains there are quite a number of activities you can still engage in during the wet season like site seeing, the scenery and view during the wet season is spectacular; the grasslands and forests are shining, fresh and full of life.
Birding is also another activity that be enjoyed in the dry season. This is made possible by the migration of birds to Queen Elizabeth National park.
Take Note:
During the wet season roads can get slippery therefore some vehicles especially non-four wheel drive cars may find difficulty to penetrate.
Rain may hinder some activities like nature walks.
Above all, even though the weather may hinder some activities, Queen Elizabeth is open throughout the year and alternative activities can be provided in case the weather interferes with a desired activity. However to enjoy the safari to the fullest, make sure to book your safari in the appropriate season.
