Day 1: Kigali city tour Upon arrival and depending on time, proceed for a city tour in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city. Kigali city is surrounded by lush hills of green. On the tour through the city, expect to see the following: Tour the Juru Park for a fantastic view of the city, surrounding hillside and countryside. It is one of the highest points in Kigali city. Kigali Museum and learn the history of city and country’s pre-colonial and colonial period as well as the colonial masters in Rwanda. Visit the genocide memorial site, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocent’s lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with that past. We continue with our tour and see the new developments in Rwanda; the recovery has been incredible, a testament to humankind’s resilience.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park for canopy walk

Today, you will set off towards the famous Nyungwe N.P. which is an untouched Rainforest, one of the largest forests in East and Central Africa. The forest is abundant with flora and fauna including 13 primate species from Colobus monkeys, Mangabeys, blue monkeys and, of course, our cousins the chimpanzees. Nyungwe Forest is semi heaven for birders. With a little over 300 recorded bird species, 26 of which are endemic, making it one of the most important – and still little known – bird-watching destinations in Africa.

You will have a stopover for lunch on your budget and then be on your way. Afternoon Canopy walk which takes place above a deep gorge cutting across the massive forest. Lasting about 1½ hours, the walk takes you through some beautiful foliage and animal habitats and you’ll have the chance to spot blue monkeys and unique birds that dwell in the upper levels of the forest canopy. You will have dinner and overnight at your hotel

Day 3: Waterfall hike and transfer to Lake Kivu

Early morning breakfast, you will go for the Waterfall hike. This hike runs for about 3 and 6 hours round trip, depending upon how frequently you stop to sightsee and whether you choose to drive a little further or walk from the offices. The first part of the trail is basically following the road to the vehicle park and before delving into the forest.

You will have to cross various streams before making a steep descent to the base of the small, refreshing waterfall. Monkeys are frequently seen along the way and the steep slopes provide excellent views into the canopy.After the trail, you drive to the Lodge for dinner and relaxation at your lodge

Day 4: Lake Kivu tour and transfer to Kigali

After having breakfast, you will be picked up by our company driver guide and transfer to Gisenyi on the edges of Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, take refreshment and go for a boat ride to some of the Islands in Lake Kivu. You can Visit Napoleon Island, Amahoro and Nkombo islands, you can also take a tour around the fishing villages, rural coffee washing stations and Nyamyumba Hot springs. We shall take time to visit some splendid sites along the ride and then return to the main land. You will later driveback to Kigali arriving in the evening for an overnight at your hotel

Day 5: Transfer to Akagera National Park-Evening game drive

On this day, you will be met and briefed by our tour guide at Kigali airport holding a placard reading your names or from Kigali city form your point of pick up enjoy a 2 hours’ drive to Akagera national park in Eastern Rwanda, where you can enjoy an evening game drive You will later check-in at the lodge for a relaxed evening as you get mentally set for the next day’s adventure. Dinner and overnight at your lodge

Day 6: Morning Game Drive and afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema

You will enjoy an early morning breakfast and start your game drives and be ready to explore the African savanna. A half day game drive here offers you an opportunity to spot a variety of game including Elephants, Buffalos, Hippos, Lions, Masai Giraffe, Gazelles, Impala, Baboons, Oribi, Butchel’s zebra, Topi, Bush baby, Leopard and bushbuck, Elands etc. Proceed for a boat trip after lunch on Lake Ihema, for a close encounter with the Crocodiles and Hippos along the river banks, coupled with large concentration of over 525 bird species both migratory and savanna related. Unique species such as Shoe billed stocks and papyrus gonolek can be encountered. Endemics include the jacanas, ibis, sand pipers and herons. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge

Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali

Have breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive, we shall return to Kigali having lunch along the way, you will check in at the lodge or be dropped at the airport for your departure flight
